The developer story is essentially nonexistent below the enterprise tier. API access starts at $2,000-5,000/month. Lower plans are dashboard-only. There’s no Claude Code integration, no MCP server, no programmatic access path unless you’re signing an enterprise contract.
Profound is the right choice if you’re a Fortune 500 brand with an enterprise budget and need an executive-ready platform. It’s the wrong choice if you’re a developer who wants to automate GEO monitoring.
Best for: Enterprise brands with dedicated GEO budget and no automation requirements.
Pricing: $2,000-5,000+/month for API access.
GeoTracker: self-hosted option for the privacy-conscious
GeoTracker is an early-stage open-source project (Next.js + SQLite) that integrates directly with the OpenAI, Anthropic, and Perplexity APIs using your own keys. You define prompts, run batch tests, and see how often your domain gets cited.
It’s genuinely useful as a proof-of-concept for teams that want full data ownership and are willing to self-host. The architectural pattern is sound: define prompts, batch-test across models, track citation frequency over time.
The limitations are practical: this is a 2-star GitHub project with 7 commits as of early 2026. There’s no production infrastructure, no support, and you’ll spend as much time maintaining it as using it. For teams that need reliable data, the engineering overhead doesn’t justify the savings.
Best for: Developers exploring the space who want to understand how LLM-based brand monitoring works under the hood.
